World Council of YMCAs Meet in Hong Kong

Today the 17th World Council of YMCAs will meet in Hong Kong to discuss over the next six days the critical issues the YMCA faces globally, including social justice and peace for young people and the communities YMCAs serve.

1,000+ international delegates will attend the council with approximately 32 Australian YMCA volunteers and staff attending, making it the largest ever Australian representation at a YMCA World Council.

World Council meetings are held in quadrennial instalments, and the three key roles of these events are to determine the strategic direction of the World YMCA Movement for the next four years, dialogue and sharing between delegates, and the election of the Officers and Members of the Executive Committee of the World Alliance of YMCAs.

The gathering will be held in Hong Kong at the YMCA Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village from the 19-24 July 2010.
